Zombies/Undead

This category covers those stories involving reanimated beings.  They have not been risen from the dead using some voodoo ritual, but rather have died from some disease or infection that causes them to reanimate into walking dead.

A must-read for any zombie fan is Jonathan Maberry’s Benny Imura stories: Rot & Ruin, Dust & Decay and Flesh & Bone.  These books really make you think about what it could be like if the dead reanimated.  There is some slasher-style fighting combined with the very emotional view of looking at zombies, and realizing they used to be people.

Ashes by Ilse J. Bick.  Alex, a resourceful seventeen-year-old running from her incurable brain tumor; Tom, who has left the war in Afghanistan; and Ellie, an angry eight-year-old, join forces after an electromagnetic pulse sweeps through the sky and kills most of the world’s population, turning some of those who remain into zombies and giving the others superhuman senses.  Ashes with the May pick for the Paranormal Book Group.
